If gasoline cost is $3.00 per gallon or less, ABCompany's Have Music Will Travel will travel to and set up a "Basic," "Gigantic Projection Karaoke" or "Combined" package at any location within the lesser of 100 road miles or 100 driving minutes from New Plymouth, Idaho that can be driven to on paved or smooth oiled roads without charging extra for travel.* With the return trip also being no travel charge, this gives you the lesser of 200 miles or 200 minutes of travel included at no extra charge.<1><2>

(*Google® Maps Directions service is used as the determining authority for driving distances and travel times. In times of extreme weather/road conditions, actual travel time will determine excess travel costs.)

Excess Travel Costs

Due to the cost of fuel, additional costs for travel in excess of 100 miles or 100 minutes each way are levied at the rate of 75 cents per mile up to an average fuel price of $3.00 per gallon.<2>

<1>Clarifying Examples:

Example #1: Travel to Hammett, Idaho, $3/gallon average gas price.
The distance is 108 miles, but because of a 75 mph speed limit and excellent highways, travel time is only 97 minutes. In this example, 108 miles is greater than 97 minutes, so $0.75 X 16 = $12.00 would be charged for the extra "round trip" miles.

Example #2: Travel to Halfway, Oregon, $3/gallon average gas price.
The distance via the shortest route is 112 miles, however, due to the difficulty of the road, travel time is 154 minutes. In this example, excess travel would be based on the extra 54 minutes rather than the extra 12 miles, resulting in a 108 minute round-trip excess. This equates to 54 X 2 X $0.75 = $81.

Example #3: Winter Travel to New Meadows, Idaho, $3/gallon average gas price.
The distance is 102 miles with a fair-weather travel time of 119 minutes, which would result in $28.50 excess travel costs, HOWEVER, the event occurs during a winter blizzard, causing an actual travel time of 165 minutes. Assuming that return travel would be approximately equal, $97.50 excess travel would be due and payable at the event. (65 X 2 X $0.75)

Event locations that exceed 2 hours travel time based on Google Maps directions may also require provision of or compensation for lodging and meal expenses.
(Driving home after 16 to 20 hours of working to produce a music show is not a very good idea ...)

<2> Fuel Cost Adjustments

This offer is dependent upon the average cost of gasoline remaining under $3.00 per gallon. If the average cost (along the trip route) rises above $3.00 per gallon, the number of free miles will be reduced by the decimal equivalent of 3 divided by the actual average cost of fuel. For example, if gas were to rise to $4/gallon, then the number of free miles would be equal to 100 x (3 ÷ 4) = 75 miles each way. Additionally, the cost per mile will rise to one-fourth (1/4) of the average cost per gallon. In the $4/gallon example, this increases to $1.00 per mile.

This would make the following adjustment to examples # 1 and 2 above:

Example #1: Travel to Hammett, Idaho, $4/gallon average gas price.
The distance is 108 miles, but because of a 75 mph speed limit and excellent highways, travel time is only 97 minutes. In this example, 108 miles is greater than 97 minutes, so (108-75=)33 miles multiplied by $1.00 equals $33 would be charged for the extra miles each way, or $66 round trip.

Example #2B: Travel to Halfway, Oregon, $4 gallon gas price.
The distance via the shortest route is 112 miles, however, due to the difficulty of the road, travel time is 154 minutes. In this example, excess travel would be based on the extra 154-75=79 minutes rather than the extra 112-75=37 miles, resulting in a 158 minute round-trip excess. At the increased cost per  minute of $1.00, this equates to $158.
